The winter snowpack in central Idaho has always fed the southern plains in the Spring, though it wasn’t until the early 20th century that Idahoans began to capture this passing water and disperse it to irrigate the rich soil along the Snake River.  Over the last 100 years, Southern Idaho has become an agricultural powerhouse, but unlike many parts of the country has managed to maintain its Western spirit and soul. As Southern Idaho attracts more residents and companies in years to come, the challenge will be maintaining this culture, and protecting the way of life that generations have come to enjoy.
